I couldn’t get Joyce Grenfell and Pam Ayres but we have Audrey Lee and Wendy Greene instead, bringing you a selection of thoroughly amusing observations on life through poetry and song,’ with the additional accompaniment of the autoharp which Audrey taught herself to play, during lockdown! this is going to be a rather fun afternoon.
Audrey and Wendy are best known to Indigoers as part of the original line-up of The Wordies and also from The Roundabout Poets who performed locally.
Wendy worked in the town as schoolteacher, craft instructor and college lecturer before retiring, after which she returned to her first career of journalism, as Features Editor of Caring 4 Sussex for a number of years and latterly has published a novella – Malcolm Carpenter Collected People - and a children’s adventure story – Who’s Huckleberry Finn? Both of which will be on sale on the day.
Audrey performed The Last Waltz at the hotel with last year’s Worthing Theatre Trail and, she now sings and occasionally performs at Open Mics with Blue Sky Music. And once took her one-woman show to the Edinburgh Festivaland received critical acclaim.
The event is in aid of The Mayor of Worthing’s Charities as his Carol Concert at the hotel had to be cancelled for the second year running.
